Initially I was apprehensive about spending what I considered a lot of money for a resume, however after seeing how good it came out and their patience with a back and forth to make sure the final edit was perfect. I reached out months after to add something to my resume and they how they helped. I’d say it was well worth it. My call backs did increase with the new version. I even got compliments from a potential employer!

This was a horrible experience. I would be surprised if my resume was written by a human. In the resume drafts, strange phrases and language was used. My skill set was also diluted and whittled down to a very specific description. They provided zero insight into my industry (marketing/communications) or what skills are applicable. additionally, there were typos and formatting errors in my final documents. just terrible and unprofessional.

Then the cover was a joke. It was two paragraphs. it barely took up half the page and you don't get to see it until the project is complete.

DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY WITH THIS SERVICE. Trust me.

I will say by the time I received the finished product, the resume looked good and conveyed what I needed. However, it took approximately 2 months and a LOT of micromanagement from my end, also leveraging my expertise as a HR professional, to get the finish I was expecting.

When I initially started this exercise with Storyline, I thought I was going to be interacting with a resume-writing professional who fully understood HR and could transform how I described my accomplishments into something that resonates with hiring managers. Instead, based on my conversations with the intake person and the resume writer, it was clear they barely understood my line of work and I definitely had to help them. A lot. Sometimes, I was pretty annoyed.

I'm thinking a large majority of the poor reviews I'm seeing on this platform are by folks who likely went into this exercise with similar expectations. Another friend of mine who ended up with a pretty good finished product from Storyline also shared similar feedback. So basically, if you are going into this thinking you can simply spit out information and receive a fabulous resume that best defines your experience, that is an unrealistic expectation, much like I initially had. However, if you fully understand that you need to dedicate a good amount of time steering and giving feedback on your resume, you could end up with a resume you really like.
