I started JiuJitsu when my dad finally convinced me to step onto the mats. my journey began when I was 13 and i started in the women’s class at Gracie Barra in mckinney. My older brother had done JiuJitsu when he was younger and my dad had been training for about 6 months at this point so I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong. I expected to walk into a serious environment with coaches/professors yelling, no room for mistakes, and just non inviting environment. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted by Professor Israel and Coach David, and all of the wonderful ladies in the class were really welcoming and inviting and worked with me so I could learn the curriculum instead of watching and being lost. About 6 months ago, my little brother, Trey started doing little champs and I started helping out the professors and coaching the littles. They are adorable and all of the parents are really nice and the family environment is unlike no other, it is outstanding! I struggle with really bad social anxiety and i’ve never really been able to talk to new people, but inside Gracie Barra, I am not afraid to go up to anyone and start a conversation because I know I will be met with respect and people willing to help. I would 100/10 recommend coming to Gracie Barra in Mckinney, TX! You will have an experience that you will never forget.

Great gym, expert instruction, and awesome people makes this the best place to learn Martial arts in Mckinney! Any age 4 to 60+, beginners to experts are always welcomed and are treated with respect and attention. The professors are top notch and show techniques in detail. My daughter and I love this gym! Oss!

I enrolled myself and my 6 year old son at Gracie Barra McKinney this year. There are a lot of well reviewed local Jiu-Jitsu academies and it was a hard decision to select one, but I was very impressed by the environment, structure, and attendance numbers when we visited as guests at Gracie Barra. I was initially more motivated to have my son attend regularly and planned to do my part to attend some classes as an example to him. Unsurprisingly he LOVES his classes (he says he wishes he could go "every day"). I really enjoy mine as well, much more than I anticipated. I regularly attend 2-4x a week. I think I got 5 classes in once. It's my favorite personal activity now and have found that the incredible structure and consistency provided by the Professor and Coaches is what makes it easy to commit to. Becoming a member has been an incredibly positive addition to our family and lives.

The professor and coaches here are top notch, experienced and very knowledgeable in bjj. They are technical and detailed in instruction. They are very welcoming and they help you to get better each day no matter what shape and situation you are in your daily life. As a guy in my 40’s who has not trained any martial arts, I feel good about myself every time I complete my day training at this school. My health has also improved in a lot of ways, getting my bp lower thru raising my cardio and getting my exercises in, eating healthy and minimizing stress from my desk job due in large part to attending this school. If you are planning to start a journey in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, this school is a very good start.

I stopped by here a couple times to train, the instructors are great teaching the fundamentals, I enjoyed my experience there. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be tempted to train there as a regular.

Professor Inacio is one of the best instructors I’ve ever had. He has taught my daughter jiu jitsu for the past 4 years and we could not be more pleased with his instructions. He is very technical and informative. He knows how important it is to build a good foundation to prevent injuries and roll safely. Children do well in his program because it is structured. He has taught my daughter focus & discipline!

The school itself is incredibly clean. Restrooms are extremely clean! Very nice mats! Nicely ventilated space!

I highly recommend this school for both children and adults interested in jiu jitsu. I can’t say enough great things about Professor Inacio and his school. We cannot wait to return.
