Three of us used Square One for our business start-up. Both negative and positive experiences we had found. Positives: free market research you don't otherwise have access to! DO use them for this, it can be very helpful. You can ask them anything business related and they will try to help you. Negatives: One of us experienced the employee being on their phone during the meeting and had to be asked to put it away. She was also told she is too young to be seeking market research for a business (she is 19). We also found that other than the market research, the information given is not helpful. The links sent to us as aid for our start-up were resources we were already aware of and can be easily found with a simple google search. We also felt at times the information told to us did not always seem accurate. My business partner also mentioned they seem to zero in on one person during the meeting, rather than all of us. It is necessary to include everyone. However, they are kind employees and there to help. I do recommend to use their organization for market research access or if you simply need someone to help break things down for you (say for any necessary business permits or licenses) if you feel overwhelmed.

I went there for help researching the web development industry in Saskatoon when I started my business, Vireo Productions, and used the information they gave me as a starting point. The market research information, though, was out of date and missing a lot of data, so I ended up compiling my own competition database.
